Mr. CLUB Contest Is A Smash!
Tiffany Jones Steals The Show
The 620 was filled with a capacity crowd, and the noise was deafening. Down front, by the stage one could see all the Biggies of the Club Baths elite standing or sitting, waiting for the program to begin. The trophies gleamed at the front of the stage, and a nervous Tiffany Jones was busy backstage, getting it all together.
Not nervous, really, just the usual preperformance rush. The twelve contestants were the nervous ones, and unlike Tiffany, they never aid lose that nervousness once out on the stage. Jack Campbell, main ownwer of the Club Baths Chain was seated down front, as was Charles Fleck, owner of several Club Baths, including one here in Cleveland. All of the Club managers. were there, and I saw many of the workers in the front rows of the standing room only crowd. There were even some Stallions and Unicorns recognizable in the crowd. A well-rounded audience. The areas of competition were in Free Image (costume, mostly); Swimsuit: and Personality. Most of the twelve wore some form of jeans, probably since that is considered the most appropriate attire for a body show. However, one different costume is worth mentioning. It was a very formal tuxedo, worn by a very formal young man who is probably beautiful when he relaxes. The only reason I mention it is because it was so out of keeping with the rest of the show. Not great, just strange.
Tiffany Jones started the show off with a great opening number that caught most of the audience off guard. Many of them have never seen a really good female impersonator before, and expected the typically bad Cleveland performance. But instead, they got the show of their lives! Most of Tiffany's numbers were terrific, and the Bump & Grind was outrageous!
The boys (or I should say, Men), came out in between Tiffany's numbers, and she kept everything hopping by asking the audience to "Give them the Clap", and trying to influence the judges with a "Clumsy, but Cute". When it came time for the personality section, one of them had 14" shoved down his pantleg, and poor Tiffany fainted. She was pretty upset, though, to find it was artificial. Not too, however.
The judges kept looking, and writing down numbers, and Tiffany Jones kept right on entertaining. Bruce Eden was up there too, and managed to somehow hold Tiffany back when all the contestants would come out on stage at the same time. He was gorgeous, wearing some awful thing that covered up a good half of his body. Actually, the outfit he wore was beautiful, but most of us would have preferred him without.. The contest finally drew to a close with the question and answer period, and here is where my suspicions were proved true. Most of those poor men were so nervous, they couldn't talk. Those that did, didn't make much sense. I have the feeling that the Killer Weed was involved somehow, but don't quote me. The answers were given, and the judges retired to make their decision, and Tiffany Jones dropped the Big One.
Before anyone knew what was happening, there was this nun, on rollerskates, singing Dominique. The place, of course, went wild. We had all been suspecting something when we were forwarned that the number was "not meant to o offend anyone." As Sister Tiffany rolled around the stage, money began appearing in people's (CONTINUED ON PAGE 9)
